I-deas to NX Transition Sessions – A validation of process

Conference attendees are invited to sign up for these optional sessions to help them understand and experiment with the various portions of I-deas to NX migration. These will be private sessions with each customer and we ask that you bring some of your CAD data with you so we can concentrate on the issues you will face. We will offer several types of sessions and you can choose to sign up for any of them.

I-deas TDM to Teamcenter Migration

Conference attendees are invited to sign up for these sessions which will concentrate on Step 1 of the I-deas to NX transition. We will discuss the process of “cleaning” your TDM, Teamcenter configuration for I-deas data and migrating TDM data into Teamcenter. During each 2 hour session Siemens PLM Software and our Service Partners will help you understand the details of this process and discuss your migration plans. You are requested to bring an I-deas package file or model file as detailed below so we can work with your data.

If you have an miadmin analysis of your entire TDM(s) available, you are invited to bring that to discuss the results and we will help you with a cleanup strategy. Many of the issues identified by miadmin are just informational and can be ignored. But to determine which issues you need to be concerned about we’ll need to discuss the business practices related to TDM and how you plan to configure Teamcenter. These sessions will be discussion centric since it will be impractical for most customers to bring all of their TDM Meta-data for use with the miadmin tool. These sessions will be useful for both Teamcenter Engineering and Teamcenter Express.

I-deas to NX validation sessions

A hands-on session to work with your migrated data in NX will be available following the validation process. This session will concentrate on the 2nd portion of the transition. You are requested to bring an I-deas package file or model file as detailed below so we can work with your data.

During these sessions some of your I-deas data will be migrated into NX and you will learn how to work with your I-deas data in NX. Each 2 hour session will validate the process of migrating your I‑deas data to NX using Content Migration Manager and Teamcenter Engineering.

I-deas to NX Overview.

This is a shortened version of the I-deas to NX Audits that are offered by Siemens PLM Software and our partners.

During these sessions Siemens PLM Software and our Services Partners will migrate a sample of your I‑deas data into NX. Each 2 hour session will validate the process of migrating your I‑deas data to NX using Content Migration Manager and Teamcenter Engineering.

During the validation process, your I-DEAS package file will be imported into a private I‑deas TDM data base and analyzed for migration. You will see your I-deas CAD data managed in Teamcenter Engineering then migrated to NX. You are requested to bring an I-deas package file or model file as detailed below so we can work with your data.

Model and Package File Requirements:

  • I-deas Master Series package file or model file, on CD or USB drive, containing up to,
    • a single top level assembly containing no greater than 100 instances including sub assemblies,
    • 50 unique I-deas parts with an average of 20 or less steps.
    • 10 drawings (associated or not, assembly or part) with not more than 1000 entities per drawing (on all sheets).

A sign-up sheet will be available at the conference at the Siemens PLM Software Education Services booth. Pick your time slot from those available and indicate which of the types of sessions you are interested in.
